Saving Costs and Carbon
As homeowners we receive energy notices that tells us when those expensive “peak” hours are. Peak energy demands are harder on the grid and our wallets, are often more carbon intensive to create.
Doing business doesn’t eliminate our ability to manage energy use. For manufacturers, energy spikes mean hard expenses. Energy company reports can identify spikes by month, day, and hour. This lets engineering and IT identify efficiencies like phased equipment ramp-up, adjusted production scheduling to create a flatter energy use profile, or perhaps avoids peak hours entirely.
Environmental management systems under ISO 14001, are asked to look at the activities (aspects) that have an impact on the environment, and to monitor and mitigate their significant aspects. This includes energy use and mitigation.
How is your carbon footprint? Are you energy wise? If so, investigate ISO 14001!
